About Firm Performance
Firm Performance is a strategic consulting firm focused on helping law firms grow profitably. Our team works closely with law firms and their external marketing vendors to ensure growth isn’t just possible—it’s sustainable. Learn more at firmperformance.com.
Role Overview
We're looking for a Marketing Manager who thrives in a consultative role—someone who can hold third-party vendors accountable, help clients understand the true ROI of their marketing investments, and guide better decision-making without getting deep into campaign execution themselves. If you’re a performance-driven professional who enjoys coaching, analyzing, and aligning others around measurable outcomes, this role is for you.
Core Responsibilities
Vendor Oversight & Performance Management
- Serve as the strategic liaison between law firm clients and their marketing vendors (e.g., PPC agencies, SEO firms, media buyers)
- Review and evaluate vendor deliverables (campaign reports, ad performance, lead data) to ensure alignment with business goals
- Hold vendors accountable to key performance metrics including cost per lead (CPL), cost per client (CPC), lead quality, and return on ad spend (ROAS)
- Proactively address underperformance by recommending optimizations, clarifying expectations, and coordinating with vendors on improvements
- Keep a pulse on best practices and trends to benchmark vendor performance against industry standards
Marketing Metrics & Client Reporting
- Monitor marketing KPIs across client accounts—focusing on outcomes, not just activity
- Interpret data and communicate clearly with clients about what’s working, what isn’t, and where spend should be adjusted
- Provide simple, regular reporting that connects marketing investment to firm growth
- Translate technical marketing insights into actionable, business-relevant recommendations
Client Education & Strategic Guidance
- Help law firm owners understand how to evaluate their marketing vendors and investments
- Act as a trusted advisor—coaching clients through decisions about budgeting, targeting, and vendor strategy
- Identify gaps in marketing and operations that may be limiting results, and collaborate internally to address them
Internal Coordination
- Partner with the Firm Performance team to ensure our broader strategies align with what vendors are doing in the field
- Collaborate with operations consultants and leadership to help clients improve intake, tracking, and overall conversion
- Ensure all external marketing efforts support the client’s path to profitable, scalable growth
Qualifications
Must-Have:
- 5+ years of experience in marketing strategy, client account management, or vendor oversight—ideally within an agency or consulting environment
- Experience evaluating and managing PPC, SEO, and digital marketing performance
- Comfortable holding third parties accountable using data, KPIs, and business logic
- Excellent communication skills—able to advise clients and vendors with clarity and authority
- Strong understanding of performance metrics like CPL, CPC, CPA, and ROAS
- Familiarity with law firm or professional services marketing (or strong interest to learn)
Nice-to-Have:
- Previous experience in legal marketing or consulting to law firms
- Understanding of intake systems, lead tracking, and CRM workflows
- Ability to work cross-functionally with marketing, operations, and client success teams
What Success Looks Like
A successful Marketing Manager at Firm Performance:
- Proactively ensures vendors are driving meaningful results for our clients
- Uses data to provide transparency and improve ROI—not just report it
- Becomes a strategic partner to law firm owners and a go-to resource for vendor performance decisions
- Contributes to long-term client growth by surfacing and solving performance gaps early
- Strengthens trust through clear communication, business-focused thinking, and a coaching mindset
Why Join Firm Performance?
- Join a strategic consulting firm led by legal marketing expert Peter Webb
- Work with an elite group of professionals focused on operational and marketing excellence
- Help law firms grow with clarity, accountability, and profitability
- Engage in high-impact work without being buried in day-to-day execution
